Weekly Post: April 1st – 5th

Hello April

April is upon us! Hard to believe but the snow is melting that yes the schoolyard is still a mess. I know some of you have thought of some creative scheduling solutions to try and have fewer students outside. I was looking at the schedules and it could be problematic for Junior staff as it impacts the gym schedule and prep and planning time. Over the weekend I will think about it and if people have suggestions please make sure to send them my way.

We have received the staffing for next year. On Tuesday morning at 8:45 AM we will have a short staffing meeting for those interested to see what the school structure may look like. Just to put everyone’s mind at ease, we are in a hiring position and there will not be any surplus teaching staff here this year. With this being said, please make sure that you fill out your teaching choices for next year.

We do have an assembly on Monday AM. If you have anything you need presented, or have awards to give out, please let me know when you have a chance.

Here is how the week is looking:

  • Monday: Monthly Assembly 9:30 AM
  • Tuesday: Staffing Meeting 8:45 AM
  • Wednesday: Zhenya Tennis in the Gym
  • Thursday: Zhenya Tennis in the Gym, Confession for Grade 3-5
  • Friday: PJ Day!

Weekly Post: March 4 – March 8

ash-wed2One more week until March Break! This week we begin our Lenten journey and have our Ash Wednesday liturgy on Wednesday at 11 AM. On Tuesday it is Shrove Tuesday, and there will be a pancake breakfast in the staffroom starting at 8:30 AM. Come on in to help get rid of the cake in the pantry for the next 40 days! We will be supporting the OK Clean Water Project this year as well as Christie Lake Camp. Our first event day will be this coming Friday. Beach Day!

Thanks to everyone who helped to make the Winter Play Day a success. Jenna, we know you were the cornerstone! Thanks for your time and energy organizing. This even allowed us to have some great discussion and learning on the Third Path. Thanks to this committee for setting the stage for the discussion!

Our Deep Learning Walk (DLW) is approaching. It is scheduled for Tuesday, March 26th. As we get closer to the date, I will just put a couple of things out that the team will be looking for, so you are not surprised. So many of these things are going on in all of your classrooms already, but I just want to make sure that attention is drawn to what they are looking for before the day arrives.

DLW look fors:

  • Is there evidence of a balance between whole group lessons and small group instruction?
  • Are there 5 Chromebooks up and running in the classroom? If yes, how often are the Chromebooks used in the station rotation model?

Items of interest:

  • Thursday is St. George Shawarma Day! Interested in a shawarma lunch? Find the order form here.
  • At our last School Council meeting, we were talking about revitalizing the courtyard. They are looking for staff input. Please take a moment to answer this one question survey. Staff Courtyard Survey
  • The lotto club is collecting again. The new group starts on Friday, March 8th. See Tim for details!
